Statewide groups with a variety of information on most homeschool-related topics, including how to homeschool in California:

You have four options for homeschooling in California:

      Establish a private school for your children by filing a Private School Affidavit with the California Department of Education. Visit  HSC  or  CHN , call one of our contacts, or visit:

      www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ps/rq/affidavit.asp 

      Use a public independent study program or charter school (see the box at right for a list of some of the programs available in Sonoma County)
      Use a private school satellite program.
      Parents with a teaching credential can act as tutors for their children, or parents may employ a tutor, following certain legal requirements (see the resources above for details).
