You have four options for homeschooling in California: OPTION 1: Establish a private school for your children by filing a Private School Affidavit with the California Department of Education. Visit HSC or CHN call one of our SCHN contacts, or visit: www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ps/rq/affidavit.asp OPTION 2: Use a public independent study program or charter school (see the box at right for a list of some of the programs available in Sonoma County) OPTION 3: Use a private school satellite program. OPTION 4: Parents with a teaching credential can act as tutors for their children, or parents may employ a tutor, following certain legal requirements (see the resources above for details).
